The CITB HS&E test costs £23.50 since 1 April

Since 1 April 2026, the CITB Health, Safety & Environment test — the touch-screen test behind most CSCS card applications — costs £23.50.

Book it only on the official citb.co.uk website. Test centres exist all over the UK and slots usually come up within days. Any other website "helping" you book is a middleman charging extra for the same booking.

The test result stays valid for 2 years for card applications. If your card renewal is coming up, check your test date first — if it is still in date, you can skip straight to the card application (£36 on cscs.uk.com).

Free practice apps exist for phone and tablet — a couple of evenings is enough for most people. And if English is not your first language, ask about language support options when you book.
